Help

Every month, a TCN Core subscription gives you four articles and four tips about the Mac, iPhone, and iPad, written for your clients and ready to publish under your name. Here’s how to get the most out of them.

Where to find your content

Log in on the Member login page, or click Member login at the top of any page. Your members page shows:

Three ways to publish the content

1. Automatically, with an RSS feed plug-in (WordPress sites). This is the easiest option. A plug-in such as CyberSEO Pro checks your private TCN feed and imports each new article into your site as a draft, ready for you to edit and schedule.

  1. Install CyberSEO Pro on your WordPress site (see cyberseo.net for current pricing and compatibility).
  2. In CyberSEO Pro’s General Settings, set the RSS pull mode to auto, make sure Link to source is unchecked, and save.
  3. On your TCN members page, click Copy next to your RSS feed.
  4. Click CyberSEO Pro in your WordPress sidebar, paste the feed into New Feed URL, and click Syndicate. The feed settings page should show the full text of the latest TCN post. If you see an error about restricted content instead, the feed link wasn’t copied correctly; copy it again from your members page.
  5. On the settings screen that appears, choose:
    • Check for updates once a day. New content arrives once a month, so there’s no need to check more often.
    • Maximum number of posts: 10. Most months have eight posts; some have a bonus article.
    • Post author: the person on your site you want credited.
    • Post status: Save as draft. This gives you a chance to edit and schedule each post, and to move the social media teasers from the bottom of each article to wherever you keep social posts.
    • Categories: a single category of your choosing for all TCN posts, so they’re easy to manage as a group.
    • Undefined categories: post to your default category, so the plug-in doesn’t create new ones.
  6. Leave the other settings at their defaults and click Syndicate This Feed. Then, on the main CyberSEO Pro page, select the checkbox next to your TCN feed and click Pull selected feeds now to import this month’s posts as drafts. After that, new posts arrive on their own each month.

Your feed is private to your account. Please don’t share it; anyone with the link can see members-only content.

2. Copy and paste. Open any article from your members page, copy the text, and paste it into your blog, newsletter, or email tool. Save the images and insert them in the same spots. This takes a little longer but makes it easy to personalize each article as you go.

3. Download everything. Use the Download everything button on your members page to get a zip file with a Word document for each article and tip, plus all the images. This works well for email newsletters, non-WordPress sites, and anyone who prefers to edit in Word.

Bylines and editing

You’re encouraged to edit the content: add your own examples, mention your services, adjust the tone, or cut what doesn’t fit your clients.

Where you can use it

You can publish TCN content on your company’s blog, in email newsletters sent under your company’s name, on your company’s social media accounts, and in printed materials for your clients. You can’t republish it in a newspaper, magazine, online publication, or book, resell it, or otherwise publish it for a wide audience. See the full Terms of Service for details.

Social media teasers

Articles end with social media teasers, separated from the article by a line. Post them on your social accounts with a link to the article on your site, and remove them from the article itself before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

When does new content arrive? On the first Friday of each month.

Will other subscribers publish the same articles? Yes, that’s how syndication keeps the price low. Subscribers are spread across many markets, and editing articles with your own details makes them uniquely yours.
